Wedding Competition
On October 4th 2008 winners of the "Wedding of The Year Competition " Donna Griffiths and Marc Roberts were married at The Wild Pheasant Hotel here in Llangollen, North Wales. The competition ran by The Daily Post and Llangollen Hotels saw the happy couple beat dozens of other hopefuls to win the wedding of their dreams.
Guests including the owner of Llangollen Hotels, Stephanie Booth watched on as Donna and Marc tied the knot in an emotional ceremony.
Everything from the hen night, ceremony, reception, dress, rings, cake and honeymoon were sorted out for the couple by various local suppliers.
Before the ceremony Donna's hair and makeup was done at the Impressions Salon located at the Wild Pheasant. Her gown was a Sincerity ivory satin dress with Swarovski crystals, a pearl and crystal tiara and a diamante studded veil, all from Mavis Holder at Amber Bridals, Ruthin, who also supplied the bridesmaids’ rose pink satin Dessy outfits.
Best man Lee Hennessey, ushers Gwyndaf Booth and Dewi Griffiths, and the groom Marc wore tailcoat suits, from Wrexham’s Off the Cuff.
Master of Ceremonies Brian Russell called for order as Donna and Marc prepared to make their vows in front of Denbighshire south superintendant registrar Nerys Ellis at the Wild Pheasant, while harpist Elin Williams played.
The pair exchanged inscribed white gold rings created by Wrexham jeweller Richard Hughes, who also loaned Donna a pearl necklace.
Later Tony Hornet of Bees Knees swept them off for a photo shoot at the Horseshoe Pass with wedding photographer David Paul.
Elin also provided music at the wedding breakfast, in a room filled with bouquets by Belle Fleurs. Finally they cut the cake – decorated with a Daily Post-Llangollen Hotels Wedding of the Year theme – made by Viv Bennion’s Cakes by Design.
Afterwards Sound Sensation Disco kept the evening party entertained.
